Welcome to your chance to support and fund Second Chance Medway.
We will be hosting an art auction at Sun Pier House the weekend of 13th-15th November.
Purpose of the Auction
We held an art auction in 2024 and raised £2500 which we were able to use to create a fund specifically for individuals facing food insecurity at Christmas. We are looking to give preloved art a Second Chance, if you have purchased pieces that are not hanging up then please consider donating them to our 2025 auction, enabling us to update the fund this Christmas.
About the Charity
Second Chance Medway Charity supports people enduring insecure housing and those facing food insecurity. We help Medway residents meet their basic needs through our Tenancy Support Centre and with our Food Aid Project, “Medway’s Community Supermarket.” We provide free services including Housing Advice to sustain tenancies, budgeting workshops; including benefits advice and hardship support for 18-25-year olds. Our Food Aid project which enables people to get fruit and vegetables, all pantry items, butchers’ meat, household goods, and hygiene products, all for a fraction of supermarket prices.
In 2023 the number of beneficiaries to our food aid and tenancy support services was over 5,000 for the first time. We have secured tenancies for people, enabled them to budget out of debt and provided them with a nutritious balanced food shop for a third of supermarket prices. We are seeking funding towards the core costs of our food aid project, with beneficiaries projected to go above 6,000 in 2024.
Second Chance Medway is well placed to meet the needs of the people we want to help; due to the experience and expertise of our trustees, employees and volunteers supporting our charity, whose main location is ideally located to support the very people that charity was set up to help.
